Policy and Schemes

As per Aprentice Act, 1961 Directorate, Government Printing and Stationary office provides training to various candidates for the courses related to printing technology and also gives stipends to them. In the year 2025-26 Budget Estimate Proposal for Rs.0.78 crore has done.

Policy and Schemes

Commissioner of Cottage and Rural Industries (CCI)

  • Manav Kalyan yojana : To provide tools/equipment support to socially backward class community so as to generate adequate income and self-employment.
  • Financial assistance to Industrial Cooperative societies.
  • As per the cottage and Rural Industries Policy-2024, there is a provision of various assistance to artisans.
  • National Handloom Reservation Act-1985.
  • To provide modern looms with accessories to handloom weavers to ensure reasonable earning of their products.
  • Cluster Development Scheme: A group of 25 to 100 artisans of handicraft, handloom or cottage industry engaged in production activities consider as cluster. For the development of the cluster maximum assistance of Rs.79.60 lakh can be availed for different components.
  • Craft Business Development Centre: Clusters / Centers having 100 to 300 artisans are eligible for the schemes. The State Government provides financial assistance of 70% on the project cost of up Rs. 7 Crores over a period of 10 years.

  • HAAT: Indext-C that would be provide marketing support to artisans including Urban Haat, Mini Haat, haat management, e-commerce etc.

Policy and Schemes

Gujarat State Khadi Gramodhyog Board

  • Exhibition fairs: In order to increase the sale of Khadi and village handicraft items and to get employment to the artisans, efforts are being made to increase the sale of Khadi village handicraft items by holding exhibition fairs at various places in the state.
  • Khadi Polyvastra Spinning Special Weaving Equipment Scheme: According to the Rate fixed by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), charges of Hank paid on AANK on production of cotton and on kinds of weaving, weaving charge is paid in the State.
  • Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme PMEGP Scheme: is implemented by Khadi & Village Industries Commission (MSME-Government of India) from the year 2008-09, The Standard of subsidy is categorically 15% to 35% and categorically contribution of loanee is 5% to 10%.
  • Amber Charkha Shaal Scheme: Amber Charkha/Shawl Financial Assistance Scheme is for home employment of Khadi Spinning/Weaving Artisans by Gujarat State Khadi Gramodhog Board.
  • Marketing Development Assistance (MDA): This Assistance is available for Khadi (Cotton, Woollen, Silk) & Polyvastra produced in Gujarat is made through registered Khadi Institutes/Societies.

Gujarat Matikam Kalakari & Rural Technology Institute (GMKRTI)

  • Pottery Artisan Tool Assistance Scheme: In order to modernize the pottery industry and reduce the health hazards faced by the artisans, modern pottery tools like electric chalk and electric foot mill are provided to the pottery artisans.
  • Incentive scheme for clay sculptors: To prevent environmental damage due to disposal of POP idols in the state and promote the use of eco-friendly idols, 50 percent subsidy is provided to artisans for soil.
  • Energy Efficient Furnace Scheme: Energy efficient kilns developed by the Institute are provided to pottery artisans with 100 percent subsidy to reduce the environmental pollution caused by conventional kilns and health hazards to the artisans and increase the productivity of the artisans.

Commissionerate Cottage and Rural Industries

  • Shri Vajpayee Bankable Scheme: Scheme to provide financial loans/assistance to cottage industry artisans through Nationalized Banks.
  • Dattopant Thangdi Artisan Interest Support Scheme: A scheme to provide easy low interest finance to the artisans registered as Artisans in urban and rural areas of Gujarat State for working capital.
  • Jyoti Gramodhog Vikas Scheme: Jyoti Gramdyog Vikas Yojana, 3-phase power supply is provided to the villages of the state for 24 hours. As a result, it has provided new opportunities to the rural people to earn a living in their own village by establishing Ladhu Ughogo, Kutir Ughog etc.
  • Gujarat Gram Vikas Kendra Yojana: In this scheme, infrastructure facilities are provided to artisans at village level.
