S-branch is functioning in Tourism Division under the Department of Industries and Mines. The operations related to state tourism are carried out here. The office of Commissioner of Tourism is functioning as the office of the head of the department. Further, Gujarat Tourism Corporation Ltd. is as implementing agency.

  • Policy work on tourism.
  • Human Resource and other work of Commissioner of Tourism and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd.
  • Operations related to Navratri festival, Kite festival, Ranotsav etc.
  • Implementation of important schemes related to tourism.

About Branch

  • All major development works of 8 main pilgrimage centers of the state, government-owned temples/pilgrimage centers under private trusts.
  • All policy matters related to pilgrimage.
  • All matters related to Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board.

Subject and Functions

  • Comprehensive development of eight holy pilgrimage sites - Ambaji, Somnath, Dwarka, Girnar, Palitana, Dakor, Shamlaji and Pavagadh.
  • Development work of A, B and C class temples as per the resolution of the department dated 11/04/2023.
  • All administrative matters related to Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board.
  • Development of around 358 government-owned temples.
  • Development of temples run by private trusts.
  • Development of religious faith centers of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  • Work to maintain “high level of cleanliness” at eight important pilgrimage sites.
  • During various fairs and festivals celebrated in pilgrimage places, various facilities are provided for the pilgrims through temporary infrastructure, in addition to CCTV camera facilities for the security of pilgrims, toilet blocks, solar system facilities and other pilgrim-oriented ancillary facilities.
